Vince Demana

Demana, Vincent J. "Vince", 72, of Springfield, died March 11, 2013 in his residence after battling Parkinson's disease for many years. He was born June 28, 1940 in Springfield, OH to Dominick and Jenny (Guzzi) Demana. Vince was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Catholic Central Boosters, where he was a Green Blazer Award Recipient, former Board Member of Security National Bank, and was a longtime member of the Clark County Farm Bureau. He retired as CEO of Benjamin Steel Company, which he grew into a successful multi-location family business. After retiring, Vince then enjoyed his next passion, farming and raising cattle. A true gentleman farmer, he spent many happy years in dress clothes at Benjamin Steel, and then spent many more happy years in jeans, a jean shirt and his Benjamin ballcap, walking the fields and forests, "communing" with the cattle and trees. He is now walking easy again with Kay, the love of his life, beside him. Survivors include two children, Dominick "Nick" (Annie) Demana and Teresa Demana of Springfield; two grandchildren, Alex and Haley Demana; a brother, Franklin "Frank" (Chris) Demana, Columbus, OH, numerous nieces and nephews; and many extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine "Kay" in 2012; an infant daughter, Monica; two brothers, Sam (Phyllis) Demana and John Demana; and a sister, Mary Demana. Friends may call in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in St. Teresa Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Catholic Central School Foundation, National Trail Parks and Recreation District, 1301 Mitchell Blvd., Springfield, OH 45503 (they will plant trees in his memory), or to another organization of your choice.
