Shay, Theresa Ann 78, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2026, with her family by her side.
Born on August 15, 1948, in Lexington, Kentucky, Theresa was the daughter of the late Landon and Mary Frances (Donahue) Tuttle. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and faithful member of St. Rose Family Catholic Church.
Theresa never knew a stranger. With her warm smile and heart of gold, she made everyone feel like family. She had a remarkable ability to find joy and fun in every situation and treasured every opportunity to spend time with those she loved most.
An avid golfer, Theresa enjoyed countless days on the course with family and friends. She was a passionate fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Cincinnati Reds. She especially loved celebrating the holidays, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart. Her family's cherished tradition, affectionately known as “Shaymas,” became a treasured time filled with laughter and memories that will live on for generations.
Above all, Theresa loved her family. Whether cheering from the sidelines, hosting holiday gatherings, or simply enjoying time spent together, she found her greatest happiness in being surrounded by those she loved.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David Shay; four children, Tye Shay, Dan (Angie LeMaster) Shay, Lisa (Greg) Fitzsimmons, and Colleen (James Phillips) Reed; six grandchildren, Michael Patrick Shay, Caden Reed, Kylie Reed, Logan Fitzsimmons, Riley Shay, and Jayce Phillips; her sister, Kathy Sullivan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Patrick Shay and Michael Shay; her grandson, Justin Shay; her brother, Tom Tuttle; and her daughter-in-law, Rachel Shay.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Conroy Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Teresa Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
