Theresa M. Mechura

Mechura, Theresa M., age 60, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at home on January 29, 2024. Theresa was born in Fort Wayne, IN on August 27, 1963, the daughter of James Thomas McLaughlin and Shirley Jeanne McLaughlin. She lived most of her adult life in Ohio, primarily in Elyria and Columbus. Theresa was a firm and faithful believer in Christ, who dedicated her life to her family. She was incredibly selfless and always put the needs of her loved ones far above her own. She was incredibly proud of being a mother, and never failed to mention how much she loved her children to anyone who would listen. She never missed a sporting event, parent teacher conference, or any other activity they were interested in. She was unbelievably supportive, hard working, funny, and never let any of her medical battles slow her down from being the glue for her family (or from cheering on Tom Brady and her Wolverines). Words cannot express how much her family will miss her, but her presence will always be felt in the love she left behind and the relationships she built. Surviving are her fiancé Edward Jewett, her children Nico (Brianna) Mechura, Hunter Mechura, Malisia Jewett, Malachi Jewett and grandchild Jackson Mechura. She also leaves behind her sister Katrina (Mark) Cifuno, sister Rebecca Kpokoudjo, and brother Christopher (Trisha) McLaughlin. Theresa is preceded in death by her mother Shirley, father James, and brother Michael McLaughlin. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
