Sonny D. Mooney

MOONEY, Sonny D., 79, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. Sonny was born February 11, 1943 in Springfield, Ohio the son of Luther F. and Thelma L. (Copeland) Mooney. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of the International Pentecostal Church of Christ. Sonny enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle and playing his guitar. Survivors include his wife, Lucille "Becky" (Woods) Mooney; son, Donnie Herring; granddaughter, Nevaeh Herring; four siblings, Joallen (Barbara) Mooney, Jerry Don Mooney, Charles Lee Mooney and Melinda (Jerry) Valentine; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Betty Sue Benson and Tommie Franklin Mooney. No services will be held at this time. Arrangements by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
