Richard J. Martin

Martin, Richard J., 83 of Springfield, passed away at 3:58 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026. He was born June 23, 1942 in Springfield the son of John and Ethel (Donovan) Martin. He retired from Navistar after 31 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 624 and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed watching the Buckeyes and Bengals and playing Golf. He is survived by two daughters, Peggy (John) Monce and Joyce (Jeff) Walden; five grandchildren, Natalie (Zach) Nielsen, Jacob (Infiniti) Deel, Adam (Olivia) Deel, Amanda (Joe) DeWitt and Zachary (Lorna) Walden and seven great grandchildren, Ethan, Maggie, Lucy, Theo, Emma, Avery and Andrew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; Great granddaughter, Margo Deel; three sisters, Martha Kupanoff, Emma Chase and Shirley Norman and brother, John Martin. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
