Born, Raymond Bruce, 79, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, in the home, near Springfield, Ohio, that he shared with his daughter and son-in-law while battling cancer for the past year. Bruce was born on May 17, 1947, in Bellefontaine, Ohio to Lester and Mary Born. He is survived by daughter, Robin (Lonnie) Aldredge and the love of his life, Rosemary (Detrick) Born. He was a special grandpa to Andrew Aldredge (Callie Owens), Brenna Aldredge (Hayden Conway), and Anthony “A.J.” Aldredge (Danielle Ahrendt). He is also survived by sisters, Linda (Gene) Gooding and Chris (David) Watkins; sisters-in-law, Joanna Born and Cat Kouns Born. He will be remembered by special “cousin”, Sharon Warren; lifelong friend, Alan Galvez; numerous nieces and nephews and friends made through his volunteer work. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lee Born and Lester Born, III and sister, Lisa. He was also greeted in heaven by Forest and Phyllis Lightle, who were like parents to him and infant daughter, Brenda. Bruce lived a life of service to his country, his family and his community. He was a proud member of the United States Air Force, serving in Vietnam and continuing a military career of 44 years. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Per his wishes, Bruce was cremated. Visitation will be held at CONROY FUNERAL HOME on Friday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. with military honors at 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m. He will be interred at the Huntsville Cemetery at a later date. His family asks, in lieu of flowers, consider a contribution to the Springfield Soup Kitchen, 830 West Main St., Springfield, Ohio 45504. Think of Bruce the next time you go fishing, go golfing, hear the roar of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle or visit his beloved Indian Lake.
