Zerkle, Philip Clinton, 92, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away on June 26, 2026 at Forest Glen Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. Born on January 25, 1934, in Springfield, Ohio, Philip was the son of the late Arthur J. and Agnes P. (Schneider) Zerkle. After attending St. Raphael Elementary, he graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1950. Philip married Dolores Erisman on June 13, 1953. Together they have four children and nine grandchildren. Philip retired from Ohio Edison in 1994 after 42 years of service. Philp was a member of St. Raphael Church and a former member of the Northridge Lions Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. An avid sports enthusiast, he officiated high school football and basketball games and held season tickets to the Cincinnati Reds for many years. He also enjoyed spending time with his Card Club friends and keeping up with his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Philip is survived by his wife, Dolores Zerkle; his sister, Nancy Zerkle; his four children: Tina Mathuews (Michael Mathuews) of Chillicothe, Ohio; Daryl Zerkle (Dr. Ann McLean) of Springfield, Ohio; Keith Zerkle (Linda Sauers) of Springfield, Ohio; and Scott Zerkle (Denise Zerkle) of Springfield, Ohio. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren: Dr. Katy Mathuews, Michelle Mathuews, Kevin Mathuews, Allison Zerkle, Mia Hussaini Zerkle, Abby Zerkle, Zachary Zerkle, Devin Zerkle, and Danica Zerkle. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 1 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Forest Glen Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center and the Springfield Region of Ohio’s Hospice for the exceptional care of their loved one.
