Mullen, Peter Joseph “Pete”, 76, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Pete was born on July 5, 1949, in Springfield, Ohio, Pete was the son of James and Mary (Fanny) Mullen. A proud graduate of Catholic Central High School and a lifelong member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, Pete lived his faith not just in words, but in the way he treated others with kindness, humility, and quiet strength. Pete was a man of deep dedication. He spent his career working in local industry, including The James Leffel Company, Holophane Lighting Company, and Miller Engine & Machine, before retiring as a manager at Fluid Quip Custom Machine. He was respected by those who worked alongside him not for seeking recognition, but for showing up every day, working hard, and leading by example. More than anything, Pete was a family man. He shared 56 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Chris (Mertens) Mullen. He was a proud and devoted father to his sons, Peter and Matthew (Susan) Mullen, and nothing brought him more joy than being “Grandpa/Pop” to Cassandra, Mallory, and Ryan. Pete found great joy in life’s simple moments, especially on the water at Lake Erie fishing, particularly for walleye, was one of his greatest passions. He cherished the friendships formed with his fishing crew over the years. Pete was also a lifelong sports fan and a proud supporter of Catholic Central Basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary (Fanny) Mullen; brothers, Pat and Todd Mullen; and sisters, Mary Clark and Marty Light. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Chris (Mertens) Mullen; his sons, Peter Mullen and Matthew (Susan) Mullen; and his grandchildren, Cassandra, Mallory, and Ryan. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph (Cathy) Mullen; sisters-in-law, Sue Mullen, Jeannie Mullen, Molly Mertens, and Sally Monsey; brother-in-law, Alan Mertens; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be held two hours prior, beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Catholic Central Boys Basketball program.
