Paul J. Thompson, Sr.

THOMPSON, Paul J., Sr., 65, of Springfield, OH, passed on February 10, 2019. Born on March 25, 1953 in Covington, KY., fourth eldest son of Harry Thompson Jr. and Virginia (Phillips) Thompson. Paul worked as a journeyman press operator for the Springfield News-Sun and Dayton Daily News. He retired early in 2015 with 38 years of service. Paul is survived by his children: daughter, Katie (Daniel) Griffith, and son, Paul "Joey" (Wittney) Thompson II; 6 grandchildren, Chris, Alex, Harper, Finnegan, Grady, and Prestyn; 3 brothers, Tom (Ginny) Thompson, Jerry (Rita) Thompson, and Larry Thompson and a number of nieces and nephews. Paul is preceded in death by his wife Helen (1999), mother (2000), and father (2009). A viewing will be held at CONROY FUNERAL HOME on Thursday February 14, 2019 from 4-7 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday February 15, 2019 in Conroy Funeral Home with Rev. Orbie Estep officiating. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his name be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) and/or the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (www.curemeso.org).
