Carney, Michael J. was born in Springfield, Ohio on November 15, 1961 to the late James and Alice (Coakley) Carney. He grew up in Springfield and attended Catholic Central High School before going on to attend the University of Dayton where he and his football teammates won the National Championship in 1980. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved life partner, Beth King. Michael was known for his excellent work ethic. His career in the food service industry is highlighted by the last 20+ years as Head Chef at Carmae Catering. He was an avid cook, fisherman, gardener and Notre Dame football fan. You would rarely catch Mike without an article of Notre Dame attire on. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking for his family and many customers throughout his career. He enjoyed antagonizing the neighborhood trick or treaters on Halloween for decades with his hyper realistic Michael Myers impression. Michael is survived by his children; Patrick (Dania), Ethan, Daniel, Marina; granddaughter, Cora; his devoted partner, Beth and her children, Caleb and Kyle (Sierra) and their child, Delaney; siblings, Jim (Julie) Carney, Teresa (Tim) Myers and Karen (John) Murphy; brother in law, Tom Kunk as well a plethora of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice Carney; his aunt, Barbara Coakley as well as his sister, Kathleen Kunk. His visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13th in CONROY FUNERAL HOME followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Private burial with immediate family to follow.
