Michael Eugene "Mike" Bean

Bean, Michael Eugene “Mike”, 73, of Urbana, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026, in his home surrounded by family. Mike was born August 21, 1952, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Gerald Elno and Willa Josephine (Johnson) Bean, Sr. He served in the Air National Guard and later retired from Navistar after 32 years. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Polly Ann (Collier) Bean; one daughter, Dena (Erick) Eckurd; four grandchildren, Tyler (Trevor) Ferryman, Dustin (Jennifer) Eckurd, Jarrett (Haylee) Eckurd and Payton (Hayden) King; six great grandchildren; four sister, Julie Stoops, Carol (Harry) Hamilton, Lynn (Thomas) Randall and Peggy (Bruce) Alden; several nieces and nephews; and numerous close friends, including Russell Bean, Scott Collier, Waldo Dornan and Kenny Gatewood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Elno “Jim” Bean, II; nephew, Gerald Elno “Gary” Bean, III; and a brother-in-law, Artie Stoops. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
