Melody Lee Free

Free, Melody Lee, 80 of Springfield, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026. She was born in Urbana on December 21, 1945 the daughter of Milburn and Mildred (Heminger) Baumgardner. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Thomas G.; three children, Greg (Traci) Free, Sheryl Free and Lisa Pacelli; two grandchildren, Lauren and Ben; two great grandchildren, Weston and Evie; three siblings, Jim (Karen) Baumgardner, Betty Price and Carolyn Callison; sister-in-law, Marilyn Baumgardner; brother-in-law, Jay (Carol) Free; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Donna Pollock; extra adopted sister, Judy Davis; classmate girlfriends at Graham and her Asbury United Methodist Church family. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Frank and Tom Baumgardner and three sisters, Kay Neer, Nancy Harding and Rose Richart. Her family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Felix and the Springfield Regional Cancer Center. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Thursday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME with her funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church.
