Kent B Harkins

Harkins, Kent B, 71, of Springfield, passed away September 19, 2026, at Wooded Glen Health Campus. Kent was born February 27, 1955, in Springfield, Ohio to Eldon & Margie June (Brown) Harkins. He is survived by his longtime love, life partner, and companion, Cindy Oiler; her children, Johanna (Larry) Gladman and George H. Oiler, III; granddaughter, Madison Gladman; “mother-in-law,” Martha Reagan; two brothers, Scott (Ginny) Harkins and Neil (Janice) Harkins; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and Cindy’s extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Keith; brothers, Gene and Craig; sisters, Judy Hoskinson and Sue Arnold; and niece, Janeice Arnold.

Kent was a longtime maintenance & utility worker for the Clark County fairgrounds and worked for Springfield City schools before retiring in 2017.

Kent was an incredibly special man. He was generous and kindhearted with a gentle calm spirit that was a comfort to his loved ones and his animals. He shared a lifelong love of fishing with his brother, Scott. Kent was a lover and collector of all thing’s audio, a passion he shared with his brother, Neil. From an early age, he had a curiosity and natural ability in mechanics of all kinds and could fix just about anything! He enjoyed music and motor sports, with a special affection for his Camaro and his Valkyrie. Kent had a unique sense of humor and a great laugh which both made hard times a little easier. You always knew from the gleam in his eye when he was amused. He was very intelligent but appreciated a simple life with simple pleasures like a good cup of black coffee and a cigarette. Kent stayed true to himself and the life he wanted to live while always caring for his loved ones with loyalty and dedication.

The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude for the kind and compassionate care he received at Wooded Glen for the past several years. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 25, in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Casual attire is encouraged. Private interment will be held at a later date.
