Joshua Micheal Lee Downing, Sr.

Downing, Sr., Joshua Micheal Lee, 40 of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024.   He was born in Springfield on May 16, 1983.  Josh was a Notre Dame fan.  He was a handyman who could build or fix anything.  Josh loved many things, including motorcycles, working on cars, fishing, pool, cooking and coaching baseball.  He also loved his clan, in which he was Goose, James was Maverick, Collin was Iceman and J.J. was Rooster.  Survivors include the mothers of his children, Lauren Hensley and longtime partner, Stephanie Downing; three children, Collin Downing, Jocelyn Downing and Joshua Downing, Jr.; his mom, Tonya Frock; brother, James Allen Jackson; two nephews, Mason Tackett and Brady Lowe; three aunts, Vickie Fitzwater, Debbie (Mike) Cochran and Penny Kunkle; two uncles, Jim Harris and Lyn Combs; his beloved cocker spaniel, Bailey Rae and many cousins, close friends and childhood friends, George and Mikey Plummer.  He was preceded in death by his dad, Ralph Frock; niece, Morgan Tackett; maternal grandparents, Louise and Richard Goings; three aunts, Linda Harris, Patti Malone and Karen Combs and five uncles, Mike Fitzwater, John Malone, Jerry Kunkle, Russell Shipton and Timmy Shipton.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Ferncliff Cemetery with Deacon Norm Horstman officiating.  The family will receive friends two hours prior, beginning at 12:00 p.m.  Flowers may be delivered to Ferncliff Cemetery.  You can stop at the office and they will direct you where to go.  Arrangements by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
