Dean, Jr., Clarence J. "Joe", 89, of Springfield died May 31, 2013 in Eaglewood Care Center. He was born July 7, 1923 in St. Louis, MO to Clarence and Dora (Coleman) Dean. Joe retired as an agent with Consolidated Insurance (formerly McCleary-Jones Insurance). He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran having received Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star and Purple Heart and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. After being discharged from the service, he received a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Donna (Cherubini); two children, Michael J. Dean, Singer Island, FL and Cindy (Tom) Griffith, Springfield; Step children, Karen Stucker, Robert (Melissa) Englefield, Jr., Ellen (John) Weidauer; seven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine L. (Clark) in 1985. Friends may call in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Chaplain Chad Vickers officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors.
