Jung, Jerome P. “Jerry”, 85, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Northwood Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. Jerry was born April 26, 1941, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Jerome Henry and Mary Margaret (McLean) Jung. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served 3 years in Germany as a communication tech. He retired from Ameritech in 1995, where he worked for 30 years. He was also a member of the AT&T Pioneers, where he volunteered to call retired Ameritech employees to wish them happy birthday and just to see how they were doing. He also volunteered one day a week to service and repair cassette players for the blind. Jerry was also a master craftsman in carpentry. He could build anything from the ground up. He also loved to work on and restore cars, mostly Mustangs. Most of all, he was a kind and loving father! Always ready to help family or anyone who needed help! He would drop whatever he was doing to lend a helping hand! Our dad is and always will be our rock! He will be dearly missed! We are all better off from being cared for by his willingness to be an example of faith, morality, work ethic, and always family first. He was a cut above many, and we are better for it. In all our lives and homes, he intentionally left his mark with his generosity of work ethic, ingenuity, time, and literally his hands. He did this because he loved us, and in this he reaped what he sowed – he was well loved. Survivors include two children, Michael (Leah) Jung and Bonnie Jung; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Patty, Tommy and Mary Kay. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the CONROY FUENRAL HOME. Visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
