Janice E. (Flax) Stratton

Stratton, Janice E. (Flax), 93, passed away peacefully with her daughter, Denise by her side, February 6, 2021 in Valparaiso, IN. She was born August 13, 1927 in South Solon, Ohio, the daughter of Floyd & Virginia (Ridout) Flax. Janice graduated from Plattsburgh High School, Class of 1946. She married her WWII PenPal, Lloyd Franklin Stratton, May 31, 1947. They settled in Springfield, OH. Janice was a very loyal and faithful member of St. John's Church in Springfield where she volunteered many years and hours. After residing in Springfield for 69 years she moved to Valparaiso, IN to live with her daughter, Denise and family. She enjoyed many new adventures and memories. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank Stratton, three siblings, John Leonard Flax, Patricia (Peach) Wine and June McClain, also son-in-law Gary L Collins. Surviving Janice are her daughters, Karlotta (late Gary) Collins of Marion, OH, and Denise (Keith) Gilliland of Valparaiso, IN; 4 grandchildren, Matt (Evie) Collins of Marion, OH, Derrick (Cassie) Collins of Ostrander, OH, Bo Gilliland and Libbie Gilliland both of Valparaiso, IN; 4 great-grandchildren, Owen & Quinn Collins of Marion, OH and Kynlee & Raelynn Collins of Ostrander, OH and a Special Niece, Tangie (Brian) Newman of Urbana, OH. Visitation will be held 11am-Noon, Friday, February 12, at Conroy Funeral Home, 1660 E. High St., Springfield, OH. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Springfield, OH. Those who wish to remember Janice in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Dunes Hospice, 4711 Evans Ave., Valparaiso, IN. The family would like to thank the staff of Avalon Springs, Valparaiso, IN, for the kind and loving care they gave Janice through the years.
