James W. Horn

Horn, James W., 86, passed away Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis. Jim was born February 16, 1939, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of William J. and Mary Katherine (O’Flaherty) Horn. Growing up on Willis Avenue, he developed a love for fast cars, baseball, cowboy movies, and met his devoted wife of 65 years, Anne. Following graduation from Catholic Central High School, he served in the Air National Guard and began what would be a 44+ year career with International Harvester/Navistar. He retired from Navistar in 2001. Jim was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 624. He also served as longtime volunteer through coaching, Church, and Hospice. Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne (Garrity) Horn; five children, Tom (Virginia) Horn, David (Jill) Horn, Julie (Mark) Scheaffer, Mary Aldridge and Marcia (Dennis) Gibson; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren, with another on the way; a sister, Mary Rae (Bill) Glaser; niece, Kathy (Ray) Mahacek; and nephew, Nick Glaser. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Molly Carroll. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. in St. Teresa Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa Catholic Church or Catholic Central Schools.
