Hearlihy, James Henry, 95 of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at home with loved ones nearby. He was born in Springfield on May 28, 1930 the son of James Henry and Josephine (Topp) Hearlihy, Sr. Jim served in the United States Air Force with the 5th Communications Group, 1st Battalion, Seoul, Korea from October, 1951 to August, 1952. He retired from Ohio Bell with 36 years of service. Jim was a dedicated family man and was devoted to community service. He was a member of Telecom Pioneers, formerly Telephone Pioneers of America and a volunteer for the Clark County Historical Society, along with various other volunteer efforts throughout the years. He was married to the love of his life, Mary Eleanor 54 years, before her passing in 2014. Survivors include his seven children, Joseph (Darcy) Hearlihy, William Hearlihy, Christine Hearlihy, Nancy (Randy Shumate) Hearlihy, James Hearlihy, Richard Hearlihy and David Hearlihy. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Bowman and his aunt, Mary Topp. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23 in St. Joseph Church. The family will receive friends two hours prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Inurnment will be held in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Clark County Historical Society or Second Harvest Food Bank.
