Gladys Schneeberger

SCHNEEBERGER, Gladys, passed away on June 10, 2026, in Sarasota, Florida, having enjoyed a life full of boundless love with her family that spanned five generations.  She was born on August 24, 1929, in Springfield, Ohio to the late John L. (Jack) and Pearl Ebert Grisso. A graduate of Catholic Central in Springfield, she married Joseph Schneeberger on July 23, 1949, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in February 1998. As one granddaughter says, “She loved big.” Gladys was devoted to her ever-expanding family, proudly celebrating each of their accomplishments. She was also always the first to offer a strong shoulder to cry on—or nap on. Confident and caring, Gladys gave so much of herself as part of her unwavering commitment to ten decades of friends and neighbors in Springfield, the community she loved to call home. One example was her 31 years of tireless work right up to this past winter at the St. Vincent de Paul Society’s food pantry. Gladys answered phone calls and registered their neighbors, but was most appreciated for greeting them all with a smile and her caring attitude. Gladys always had sage advice, a supportive prayer, or one of her legendary homemade chocolate chip cookies for anyone who needed it. She was our “GG,” but she will be deeply missed by everyone she gifted with her love. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Katherine (Wally) Henne of Sarasota, Florida and grandchildren Michelle (Mark) Johnson of Longboat Key, Florida, Brandi (Chad) Lawson of Bradenton, Florida, Brett Henne of New York, NY and Holly Henne of Piqua, Ohio; great-grandchildren Victoria Johnson (Bailey Wilson) of Miami, Florida, Lauren Johnson of Sarasota, Florida, Chloe and Caleb Patton Jones and children Quinci and Vasiah of Beavercreek, Ohio, Caden Clark (Heidi Schutt) and son Kyser, Cooper Clark (Natalie Fogt), and Landon Lawson (Samari Tucker), all of Piqua, Ohio. Also, her son, Joseph Schneeberger of Ridgeland, Mississippi; granddaughter, Jolie Bouler of Clinton, Mississippi, and her children, Wyatt Bouler, Paxton Bouler, and Kaitlin Carite (Evan); grandsons Jason Schneeberger (Sue) of Marietta, Georgia, and their children, Ethan, Kara, and Jace Schneeberger; and Nick Schneeberger (Arielle) of Washington, D.C., and their son, Owen Schneeberger. Also, special friends who helped Gladys so much recently including Marilyn Linton, Cindy Catanzaro, Nancy Fisher, Debbie Dasher. A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 20 from 10:00-11:00 am at CONROY FUNERAL HOME at 1660 East High Street in Springfield with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:30 am at St Bernard Church at 910 Lagonda Avenue.  Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
