Degenhart, George Anthony, 79, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, surrounded by family. George was born November 29, 1946, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of George Earl and Agnes (Groeber) Degenhart. After earning his master’s degree, George found his passion in Education, where he was a Principal at Keifer Alternative School. George committed his life to helping others, serving on numerous boards, including the International Credit Union, United Senior Services, and the Clark County Fair Board, to name a few. He also served as the Zoning Inspector for German Township. George also had a passion for farming and enjoyed working on his farm in his spare time. He was even chosen as Cooperator of the Year for the Clark Soil and Water Conservation District. He was especially proud of being a part of the Crown Market Lunch Bunch. His family was his everything. For those who knew him, they understand that this only touches a very small part of who he was. Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy Jane (Pierce) Degenhart; three children, George E. (Traci) Degenhart, Kristin (Rick) Meeks and Jeff (Andrea) Thomas; six grandchildren, George Brice Degenhart, John Ethan Degenhart, Gavin Andrew Degenhart, Katie (Stephen) Winkle, Andi Meeks and T.J. Meeks; and a brother, Richard Earl (Nora) Degenhart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Todd Degenhart. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 21 at 1:00 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Alan Cain officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior, beginning at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. A burial will be held at St. Bernard Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to German Township Fire and EMS.
