Ellen M. Carey

CAREY, Ellen Mary, 83, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at The Legacy at Forest Glen. Born on October 23, 1942, in San Francisco, California, Ellen was the daughter of Harold and Kathryn (Frengs) Grady. She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Risse, Kathy Cooley, and Pat (Steve) Galeria. Ellen taught at Clark State Community College and worked for many years at the Clark County Child Support Enforcement Agency. She was a longtime member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. Ellen is survived by her six children: Charles (Chuck) Carey, Jr., Clinton (Angela) Carey, Kathryn (Andrew) Brougher, Thomas Carey, Timothy (Adrienne) Carey, and Kelly Carey. She was the proud grandmother of Allison (Drew), Sarah, Jack, Lauren, Danny, Maggie, Sammy, Maximus, Charlotte, and Aloysius, and great-grandmother of Clare. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 7, 2026 in St. Raphael Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at The Legacy at Forest Glen for the care and compassion they provided to Ellen. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are entrusted to Conroy Funeral Home.
