Darrell D. Cypryla

Cypryla, Darrell Dean, 58, born August 6, 1968, to Antoinette Cypryla, passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

A 1987 graduate of North High School, Darrell made history as the first sanctioned umpire to officiate from a wheelchair. He proudly served as a sanctioned umpire for 16 years and was admired for his dedication, perseverance, and love of the game.

Beyond the ballfield, Darrell cherished spending time with his three grandsons. He always took the opportunity to teach them important life lessons and shared his wisdom with them on a daily basis. He also enjoyed cruising with his beloved wife, Debra, and their friends. Darrell never met a stranger while cruising and easily made connections wherever he traveled. Cruising gave him the opportunity to embrace his adventurous spirit, experience new places, and create treasured memories - especially during his travels to Alaska.

Darrell is survived by his devoted wife, Debra Cypryla; his daughter, Allyson Cypryla; his grandsons, Grant Smith, Oliver Long, and Drake Long; his sisters, Hope Cypryla, Robyn (Dan) Stevens, and Sharon (Barry) Hawkins; his brother, Christopher (Deanna) Cypryla; his in-laws, Roy K. Peck and Delzie Peck; his brothers-in-law, Steve (Jill McCullough) Peck and Mike Peck; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kayla Cypryla; his brother, James Cypryla; his sister, Janet Summers; his brothers, David Wayne McCluskey and Bonner J. McCluskey, Jr.; his father, Bonner McCluskey, Sr.; and his grandparents, Mildred Cypryla and Antonie Cypryla.

Darrell will be remembered for his strength, determination, and unwavering devotion to his family. His love, courage, wisdom, and generous spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him, and his memory will live on through the family he cherished, the lessons he taught, the lives he touched, and the countless treasured moments they shared.
