WOOD, Darla E., 73, of Springfield, went to be with her husband and our Lord Tuesday, August 6, 2019 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. Her daughter was holding her hand as she peacefully slipped out of this world and into heaven. Darla was preceded in death by her parents Wiley and Beulah Grubb, her brother Ronald Ray Grubb and her husband of 46 years, Fred Wood. She was born at home on November 26, 1945 in Wenonah (Dott), West Virginia. Fred and Darla moved to Ohio in 1967. She worked at Frischs for many years before going to Friendly's where she retired from. She then worked at Wal-Mart on Tuttle Rd. until she became sick. Darla made many special friends along the way. Survivors include her daughter and best friend, Carolyn Breese (Randy); two grandsons, Jesse L. Breese and Chad A. Breese (Danielle; five great grandchildren, Dillon and Peyton Breese, Joesph, Nicole and Renee Chesshir; three sisters, Liz Cordell (Neal), Donna Heitzman and Regina White (Leonard); two brothers, Barry Grubb (Lila) and Gary Grubb; a very special brother and sister-in-law, Jim Wood (Vergie) and several nieces and nephews whom were very special to her. She also leaves behind her best friend and companion, Chrissy. A very special thank you to Vergie Wood for being there with me so I was not alone. It meant the world to me that you were there for me and my momma. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
