Cheryl Marie Heath

Heath, Cheryl Marie (Miller), 82, of Springfield, died peacefully in her home on September 12, 2026, after a journey through Alzheimer's disease. Cheryl was born in Warner Robins, Georgia, on April 14, 1944, to Howard Miller and Eileen (Thomas) Miller.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Linda (Miller) O’Malley. Cheryl is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jim Heath; three children, Jeanette (Greg) Morris, Springfield, Lynne (Paul) Petkevicius, Springfield, and Jeffrey (Claire) Calhoun, Athens, Ohio. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Anne Heath; brother, Larry (Judy) Miller; grandchildren, Abbey (Richard) Burgess, Jordan (Molly) Heath, Jenna (D.J. Herier) Grinvalds, Nolan Heath, Rowan Calhoun, and Meadow Calhoun; great-grandson, Jack Burgess; and two loving labrador retrievers, Jack and Kala. She is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Cheryl graduated from Springfield South High School in 1962 where she was a member of the homecoming court. Cheryl attended the Dayton Art Institute and was later employed by Ronemus Hines and Heath Co. LPA and Ronemus and Heath Co. LPA as a legal secretary. She was later employed by Morris Bean Co., Vining Industries, and O’Cedar as an administrative assistant. Cheryl also created her own business, Documents by Design, where she used her talents as an artist and designer.

Cheryl was a warm, caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved dogs, being an owner of labrador retrievers since 1983. She was a volunteer for Best Friends Pet Assisted Therapy with her dogs Hank and Ruby, giving care and comfort to people in hospitals, rest homes, and students. Cheryl was also a former volunteer for the suicide crisis hotline and Ducks Unlimited.

Cheryl loved nature and spent many hours photographing natural and pastoral scenes.

Bringing family together meant everything to Cheryl, and along with Jim, she dedicated her life to creating a comfortable, nurturing, accepting home for family to gather, where simple pleasures such as opening holiday gifts could be cherished for hours.

Cheryl had a quick wit and relished the “Miller sense of humor” that she passed on to her children whether they liked it or not. For that, they are forever grateful.

There will be a celebration of Cheryl’s life at the Windy Knoll Golf Course Derby Event Space on Sunday, September 20th, 2026, from 1 PM to 4 PM.
