Cathie Sue Fernung

Fernung, Cathie Sue, 73, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton on August 17, 2026. Cathie was born February 1, 1953, in Springfield, OH. She was a graduate of Shawnee High School. Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, Doug; two daughters, Carrie Fernung and Heidi (Will) Fernung-Briggs; and two granddaughters, Madelynn and Zoey Briggs. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Zachary Briggs. Cathie was a talented seamstress and spent many years participating in the Homemakers Style Show at the Clark County Fair and served as a 4-H advisor for many years. Over the years she enjoyed hosting euchre parties, cooking and sewing. She also loved volunteering with Miami Valley Pet Therapy Association with Buddy (therapy dog) visiting Dayton Children’s Hospital and Springfield Regional Cancer Center. She will be missed by all of those who loved her. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Conroy Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 25 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Vale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
