Coakley, Barbara A., 84, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12th. Barb was born on August 18, 1940, in Springfield, the daughter of the late John and Helen (French) Coakley. She lived in Springfield her entire life. Barb attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated from Catholic Central High School and Clark State College. Barb's work was always in service to others. She provided in-home childcare for many years and also worked at Mueller Residential Center and Ridgewood Nursing Home. She was beloved "Aunt Barb" to her nieces and nephews and she brought so much color to their lives. Barb loved sports and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. She listened to the radio and never missed a game. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Wilson, sister-in-law Sandy Wilson, her sister Alice (Coakley) Carney, brother-in-law James Carney, and niece Mary Kathleen (Carney) Kunk. Barb is survived by her nephews, Michael (Beth) Carney, Jim (Julie) Carney and Tom Kunk, her nieces, Karen (John) Murphy, Teresa (Tim) Myers and Dedra Wilson Spurgeon, and numerous other family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 21st at 7:00 p.m. in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Catholic Central School. Barb's family would like to thank the staff at the Pathways Center of the Ohio Masonic Home for the amazing love and care they gave to Barb. They hold a special place in our hearts.
